Surburban Veterinary Clinic: Our Doctors

Dr. John R. Guarasci entered practice in 1966 after graduating from The Ohio State University in 1964 and completing military service.  He was one of the original founders of Suburban Veterinary Clinic in 1969 and continues to enjoy the practice of veterinary medicine with colleagues and staff.  An avid golfer and sports enthusiast, Dr. Guarasci loves the outdoors and “handyman” projects.
John R. Guarasci
Dr. Brian Lokai has been affiliated with Suburban Veterinary Clinic since 1975, first as a client, and then by joining the kennel staff at age sixteen. After all these years he still enjoys working here with the animals.  Dr. Lokai graduated from the University of Dayton in 1989 and then graduated from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993.  Dr. Lokai enjoys hiking, reading, martial arts and many outdoor activities.

Dr. Polly Protos graduated from Cornell University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998.  After graduation Dr. Protos worked in Englewood, Florida before joining the staff at Suburban Veterinary Clinic in 2004.  In her spare time she works at the local Humane Society caring for the animals.  Dr. Protos and her husband, Rob, enjoy outdoor activities with their three dogs; Zoey, Gilly, and Indy.  Dr. Protos is also an avid dressage rider and competitor.
Polly Protos
Dr. Michael G. Brown was raised in East Dayton and graduated from Carroll High School.  He attended the University of Dayton for two years before transferring to The Ohio State University graduating with a B.S. in Zoology.  After graduating veterinary school at the Ohio State University he served in the United States Air Force Veterinary Corps at Plattsburgh Air Force Base in upstate New York.  He practiced in Kettering, Ohio for 25 years before joining Suburban Veterinary Clinic in November of 2004.  He is married with three grown sons.  In his spare time he enjoys his pets as well as gardening and horticulture.
Michael G. Brown
Dr. Mark Koesters was born and raised in Centerville, Ohio and attended Alter High School and the University of Dayton.  He graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and joined Suburban Veterinary Clinic in 2006.  In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife Cara and their two children, Eva and Harrison.  The Koesters family has a dog and three cats.
Mark Koesters
Dr. J.K. Guarasci was born and raised in Centerville, Ohio graduating from Centerville High School in 1989.  Following undergraduate and veterinary school studies at The Ohio State University, Dr. Guarasci joined Suburban Veterinary Clinic in 2008.  He and his wife, C.J., have one son, Jacob, a daughter, Lexi, and a Golden Retriever named Giggsy.  Outside of work, J.K. enjoys golf, sports, and Ohio State athletics.
